Guitar Gear Finder is a reader-supported site. This means that I’m able to maintain and add articles on this site thanks to the support of readers.
On this page, I’ll make it clear how this works and my policy when it comes to reviews.
Some articles and guides contain affiliate links. When you buy a product through one of my affiliate links, I earn a small commission from that website at no extra cost to you.
All links to Amazon or Sweetwater on this site are all affiliate links. Other affiliates include links to websites such as Guitar Pro, IK Multimedia, PositiveGrid, and Plugin Boutique.
Here’s how it works: When you click a link in an article that goes to an affiliate site such as Amazon or Sweetwater, the URL automatically notes that you came from Guitar Gear Finder. If you purchase that product, that website pays me a small commission that helps pay for my work. It doesn’t cost you more – the price is the same as if you went directly to that site.
Thank you to all my readers who have purchased anything through my affiliate links and supported Guitar Gear Finder.
If you don’t like the idea of me earning a commission from an affiliate link, that’s fine. Don’t purchase the product through the link and buy from your preferred website instead. That’s completely fine. I appreciate it when people buy through my affiliate links, but I don’t try to push it on anybody.
Advertising on Guitar Gear Finder
As you read through articles on this site, you will notice ads spread throughout (unless you use an ad blocker).
Thank you to everybody who puts up with the ads. I know ads make the reading experience worse, but they’re the main reason why I’m able to write the content you can read and watch for free. Without the ads, I can’t afford to dedicate the massive amount of time I spend writing content.
In terms of the content of the ads, I don’t control what ads you see. The type of ads you see is controlled by an ad manager. If you see an ad you don’t like, let me know and I’ll talk to the ad manager about it.
If you don’t like seeing these ads, you can install an ad blocker in your browser and it will block all ads. I understand if you decide to do this and I don’t take it personally.
When I talk about a product or review one, everything I write is my own opinion.
I do not accept money to write reviews. If a company wants to send me a product to review, I make it clear to them that I will only write a review on the understanding that they have no control at all in what I write. If I don’t like the product, I will say it in my review.
Most of the reviews I write are on products that I like. If it looks like I highly recommend almost everything I write about, that’s because I don’t want to waste my time writing about products I don’t like or recommend.
There have been a lot of pedals and guitar amps that I have tested that I hated. I don’t write reviews on them because I’d rather spend time writing a review on something I would recommend.
While most reviews will include affiliate links to buy those products, my opinions do not change based on whether I can include an affiliate link or not.
My Reviews are Unbiased
We’ve all seen people glowingly endorse a product and you know it’s only because they were paid to promote it. YouTube and social media are full of people like that. I will never say I like something just because of an affiliate link.
A good example of this is my review of the Line 6 Spider V amp. Line 6 spent me the amp to review and I had mixed feelings on it which I explained in full in the review. I talked about all the issues I didn’t like along with the aspects I did like.
After the review was published, it was clear that Line 6 (the Australian team) did not appreciate the review. They promptly requested the amp back from me and I never heard back from them again. I highly doubt they will ever send me something to review again.
But that’s completely fine by me. I’m not going to write biased reviews just so I can get free gear. That’s my commitment to my readers – all of my reviews are unbiased.
